Position Overview

The Shift Engineer provides safe and efficient maintenance services to internal and external guests, operating the building's environmental systems to maintain smooth functioning.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct mechanical inspections each shift to ensure operational standards.
• Perform water quality testing for pools once per shift to maintain safety and hygiene.
• Address and resolve guest room maintenance requests promptly.
• Execute preventive repairs, retrofitting, and other tasks as directed by the Chief Engineer with safety and efficiency.
• Adhere to Service Plus Core Standards and hotel policies while performing duties.
• Be on-call and available during emergencies.

Physical Requirements

• Continuous standing and walking throughout shifts.
• Frequent lifting and carrying of weights up to 50 pounds.
• Regular kneeling, pushing, pulling, and lifting activities.
• Frequent climbing of ladders, stairs, and ramps.

Qualifications and Skills

• Possession of a minimum 4th Class Power Engineering certificate or equivalent.
• At least five years of supervisory experience within a hospitality setting.
• Completion of high school education (Grade 12) or equivalent.
• Well-organized and decisive with capacity to manage multiple projects under changing priorities and deadlines.
• Experience with energy management systems and building automation software.
• Strong motivation to enhance skills in all areas of building management including trade skills, codes, and innovative techniques for operational efficiency.
• Proficient in verbal and written communication.
• Excellent teamwork and high self-initiative.

The candidate must have legal authorization to work in Canada as the employer cannot sponsor work permits.

Compensation

Hourly wage ranges from 33 to 34 Canadian dollars gross per hour.
