Role overview

BetaNXT is looking for an experienced Senior Specialist, Software Engineering to join its Bengaluru team. This role calls for a strong hands-on engineer who can guide technical direction, shape architecture, and help steer software initiatives from planning through delivery. The position requires close collaboration with both technical and non-technical stakeholders to understand business needs and turn them into reliable software solutions.

The ideal candidate will have deep experience building Java-based systems in cloud environments, along with strong analytical ability, comfort working with SQL and Oracle databases, and practical knowledge of shell scripting.

Key responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership by writing, testing, and debugging complex code, while driving major features or components.
• Own the architecture and design of software systems with an eye on scalability, flexibility, and long-term maintainability.
• Take responsibility for important modules or features from idea to implementation, and work with product managers to sharpen requirements.
• Review code, uphold coding standards, and maintain high quality across the team’s output.
• Support planning, estimation, and execution of projects, and act as a technical lead to help deliver work successfully.
• Investigate difficult technical issues and resolve complex programming problems.
• Prepare and maintain technical documentation covering code, architecture, and system design.
• Help improve development practices, workflows, tools, and methods to make the team more efficient.
• Communicate clearly with internal teams and stakeholders to keep work aligned.
• Stay current on new technologies and industry trends and bring useful ideas into the team.

Required experience and technical background

• At least 8 years of experience developing applications using Spring and J2EE, including Spring Framework, Servlets, and JDBC.
• At least 4 years of experience with relational databases, including writing queries and stored procedures, preferably in Oracle.
• Experience with JMS and MQ-based messaging systems.
• Strong working knowledge of REST APIs.
• Exposure to build tools such as Maven, Jenkins, and Gradle.
• Experience using GitLab for version control.
• Ability to manage and troubleshoot cloud-based applications, preferably on OCI.
• Strong debugging and problem-solving skills, with a proven ability to resolve software issues.
• Good analytical ability, attention to detail, and interpersonal skills.
• Self-driven mindset with willingness to learn new technologies quickly.
• Strong written and spoken communication skills.
• Ability to work well in a fast-moving environment and balance multiple priorities.
• Leadership and mentoring ability within a team.
• Working knowledge of shell scripting and automation tools.
• Exposure to HTML, JavaScript, CSS, AJAX, and REST, with ReactJS considered an advantage.
• Familiarity with DevOps practices is a plus.
• Knowledge of brokerage or wealth management back-office processes such as Cost Basis Reporting or tax lot handling is preferred.

Eligibility

Applicants should have a Diploma in Engineering, a B.Tech or B.E. in Engineering Physics, or a B.Com in Computer Science.
