Team Overview

Our engineering division develops enterprise software that enhances sales performance and go-to-market agility. Various product application teams create core customer-facing features. We seek Senior Backend Engineers to collaborate across experience levels to create scalable backend systems underpinning robust product workflows. The environment emphasizes accountability with minimal meetings, mainly working within EST but including AST, PST, and Central US time zones.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop backend services powering complex product workflows.
• Contribute to data modeling of hierarchical, relationship-intensive, enterprise-scale datasets.
• Balance maintainability, performance, and operational simplicity in technical decisions.
• Enhance testing, monitoring, and reliability of backend services.
• Partner with Product teams to translate business needs into scalable backend architectures.
• Engage in design and code reviews and participate in technical discussions.
• Support colleagues through mentoring, code reviews, and knowledge sharing.
• Utilize AI tools to accelerate delivery without compromising engineering standards.

Required Qualifications

• Demonstrated expertise in designing and deploying backend systems in production.
• Proficiency in backend languages such as Java, Python, Kotlin, Go, C#, or similar.
• Strong knowledge of SQL, relational schema design, and data modeling.
• Experience with complex hierarchical, graph-like, or workflow-driven data structures.
• Adept at recognizing technical risks, evaluating trade-offs, and suggesting practical enhancements.
• Track record in enhancing scalability, reliability, observability, or maintainability of production systems.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to collaborate effectively across Engineering, Product, and Analytics teams while maintaining hands-on involvement.

Preferred Skills

• Experience with SaaS products targeting mid-market or enterprise sectors.
• Background in rule-based systems, validation workflows, or approval/governance platforms.
• Familiarity with AWS infrastructure and Kubernetes orchestration.
• Exposure to Sales Performance Management, Revenue Operations, Incentive Compensation, or related areas.

Performance Milestones

• First 30 Days: Setup development environment, understand product and backend architecture, learn testing and deployment practices, build relationships, and deploy minor improvements.
• First 60 Days: Take ownership of backend components, deliver maintainable code, collaborate on scalable designs, identify system risks, and enhance testing and reliability.
• First 90 Days: Deliver significant backend features, improve data models and workflows, influence technical direction with reasoned decisions, and enhance system reliability and maintainability.

Compensation and Benefits

• Salary range between 150,000 and 190,000 CAD annually.
