Role Overview

The Senior Merchandiser at Gubbacci Apparel plays a crucial role in design development, technical guidance, vendor coordination, and operational management to ensure high-quality school and corporate uniforms that align with client needs and sustain ethical and environmental standards.

Design Development and Technical Responsibilities

• Create comprehensive tech packs for every product, detailing exact measurements, fabric specifications, stitching details, and manufacturing instructions.
• Implement size standardization across all products to reduce customization while maintaining consistent fit.
• Develop consistent uniform designs focused on school and corporate clientele, crafting mood boards to effectively communicate design ideas.
• Supervise prototype production including garment fittings to guarantee design accuracy and functional performance.

Merchandising and Vendor Coordination

• Collaborate closely with the sales team to confirm sample and bulk production requirements in line with client demands.
• Manage fabric sourcing and procurement, ensuring quality standards and offering alternative material options as needed.
• Assign vendors for sample production, providing clear design and production instructions, and monitor vendor timelines and quality.
• Conduct thorough quality checks on samples and final products to ensure precise execution of designs.
• Coordinate with merchandising to obtain size sets conforming to tech pack specifications.

Team Collaboration and Market Research

• Work in tandem with the merchandising team to synchronize design efforts with prevailing market trends, customer preferences, and sales strategies.
• Continuously research emerging fashion trends, fabrics, and relevant technologies in children's apparel, integrating findings into uniform designs.
• Interact directly with school representatives to capture detailed requirements, present design proposals, and incorporate feedback to achieve client satisfaction.

Operational Excellence

• Utilize Zoho Inventory for seamless management of stock coordinating design, procurement, and production stages.
• Maintain detailed documentation and provide management with progress reports on design projects, procurement activities, and vendor performance.
• Adhere to budgetary limits by selecting cost-effective materials and production methods without sacrificing quality.
• Ensure bulk production strictly follows tech pack guidelines maintaining consistency in quality and design.

Sustainability and Ethical Standards

• Drive sustainable design initiatives by incorporating eco-friendly materials and green production techniques to reduce environmental impact.
