About the Role

We are seeking a Senior Graphic Designer to support the U.S. Department of Labor's Office of Public Affairs by creating impactful print and digital campaigns visible nationwide. The role involves designing posters, exhibits, reports, multimedia graphics for national events, ensuring all outputs comply with federal accessibility and design guidelines.

This position is based at the Department of Labor's Frances Perkins Building in Washington, DC, requiring full-time on-site presence Monday through Friday from 8:30 am to 5:00 pm.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design an extensive variety of print and digital collateral including posters, exhibits, stage banners, social media and website graphics, motion graphics, infographics, annual reports, booklets, and signage.
  • Work autonomously from concept to final production with minimal creative supervision.
  • Create visual media utilizing Macintosh platforms and professional design software.
  • Troubleshoot production issues and advise on appropriate materials and equipment for projects.
  • Manage competing project timelines and communicate potential risks promptly to project leads.
  • Collaborate directly with senior agency leaders and stakeholders to refine creative direction.
  • Implement fundamental Section 508 accessibility standards across all design work.

Required Qualifications

  • At least 10 years of professional graphic design experience.
  • Proven ability to independently manage design projects without extensive direction.
  • Experience working with senior or executive officials.
  • Proficiency in Adobe InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, Acrobat, and Microsoft Office suite.
  • A portfolio showcasing advanced design skills (submission of references/portfolio required).
  • Basic understanding of Section 508 accessibility rules.
  • Previous direct experience with the DOL Office of Public Affairs Creative Services Division is mandatory.
