About the Role

This position is designed to prepare candidates for the role of Restaurant Manager by providing comprehensive training. Trainees may be assigned to manage daily restaurant operations for up to 90 days, overseeing all aspects including staff, operational efficiency, and financial performance. The Restaurant Manager Trainee reports directly to the Restaurant District Manager.

Key Job Responsibilities

  • Deliver exceptional and friendly service to guests while coaching staff to uphold standards.
  • Conduct recruitment activities including interviewing, hiring, and onboarding new team members.
  • Ensure cleanliness and upkeep of the restaurant by directing and monitoring housekeeping tasks.
  • Maintain production management systems and establish daily operational goals.
  • Supervise food preparation and service ensuring compliance with brand standards and health regulations.
  • Provide ongoing training to team members on company and brand practices.
  • Facilitate communication through regular updates and maintain an information board.
  • Implement brand campaigns and train staff on new products.
  • Maintain product quality, food safety, and operational standards rigorously.
  • Oversee accuracy of cash handling, sales reporting, and inventory management.
  • Communicate regularly with the district manager regarding restaurant operations.
  • Complete all administrative tasks including paperwork, inventory counts, scheduling, and orders.
  • Promote a safe environment by adhering to safety laws and codes; report maintenance issues promptly.
  • Document incidents promptly as per company policies.
  • Take ownership of financial and operational metrics to ensure restaurant profitability.
  • Conduct regular performance check-ins and use positive reinforcement systems for staff motivation.
  • Manage disciplinary actions following company guidelines.
  • Embody and promote company values such as teamwork, integrity, accountability, and a winning attitude.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Preferred: 1-2 years of experience in restaurant management.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
  • Valid driver's license is required.
  • ServSafe Manager certification is favored.
  • Availability to work flexible schedules is essential.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong leadership capabilities to motivate and guide others.
  • Integrity and reliability in fulfilling commitments.
  • Positive and energetic demeanor.
  • Conflict resolution skills.
  • A sense of urgency and results-oriented approach.

Physical and Work Environment Requirements

The role involves frequent physical activity such as bending, kneeling, standing, walking, occasional ladder climbing, and handling objects weighing up to 50 pounds. Work environments include exposure to heat from fryers and grills, cold from freezers, and loud noise levels.
