About the Role
Located in St. John's, Newfoundland, the Resource Optimization Coordinator (ROC) position in Aviation Services plays a vital role in enhancing operational efficiency by managing employee daily work schedules and optimizing resource deployment. Reporting to the Duty Manager, the ROC supports scheduling adjustments, break planning, and resource allocation to ensure operations run smoothly and effectively.
Key Responsibilities
- Partner with the Duty Manager to develop and adjust daily work schedules, including break, location, and training deployments.
- Ensure prompt deployment of staff to meet the dynamic scheduling needs.
- Secure and allocate additional resources when necessary to address staffing demands.
- Collaborate closely with the Service Delivery team to identify resource shortages and contribute to informed decision-making.
- Perform administrative duties linked to resource management and maintain accurate documentation.
- Analyze data related to resource utilization using internal scheduling tools to support optimization efforts.
- Work jointly on initiatives to improve resource allocation and overall service delivery effectiveness.
- Exercise authority to direct workforce deployment in line with operational needs, collective bargaining agreements, and organizational policies.
Qualification and Experience
- Completion of High School or equivalent qualification/work experience.
- At least 2 to 3 years of experience in resource management roles.
- Preference for individuals with prior involvement in the aviation sector.
- Capability to obtain and maintain Restricted Area Identity Card (RAIC) and Transport Canada clearance.
- Proven experience in executing resource deployment plans.
- Operational coaching experience, particularly within unionized environments, is advantageous.
- Strong analytical skills with a focus on continuous improvement.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and adjust rapidly in a fast-paced operational setting.
Working Conditions and Additional Information
- The role is predominantly indoors at frontline operational sites, with occasional outdoor duties and frequent movement.
- Work environment may involve stressful situations requiring effective stress management.
- Physical demands include standing, lifting, bending, stooping, and kneeling.
- Mental concentration and focus for extended periods are necessary.
- Problem-solving through information analysis and evaluating results is essential.
- Collaboration within a team environment with regular interaction among operational staff and management.
- Work schedules are subject to change in response to operational needs, possibly including controlled overtime.
