Research Associate

Overview

The Research Associate position at University of Utah Health Research supports the laboratory's mission by leading research studies, preparing grant proposals, disseminating scientific findings, and mentoring students and research staff. This role demands expertise in biomechanics, motion capture analysis, computational modeling, and statistical methods to advance the laboratory’s scientific output and strategic goals.

Responsibilities

• Lead design, data gathering, and statistical evaluation for ongoing research projects.
• Act as a key scientific contributor to NIH R01 grant development, focusing on pilot data generation and analysis.
• Write, prepare, and submit peer-reviewed publications.
• Drive dissemination of research results through publications, presentations, and detailed reports.
• Partner with collaborators to develop new research questions and methodologies.
• Maintain compliance with Institutional Review Board protocols including documentation, amendments, and reporting.
• Ensure accurate research documentation and adherence to sponsor and regulatory requirements for human subjects research.
• Validate research algorithms and analytical software tools and maintain laboratory codebases and SOPs.
• Develop biomechanical and computational musculoskeletal models.
• Collect and analyze motion capture and biomechanical datasets, enhancing data processing pipelines.
• Train and mentor team members in biomechanical analysis methods, motion capture technologies, and MATLAB workflows, promoting data management best practices.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree with six years or Master’s degree with four years of related experience, or equivalent combinations of education and experience.
• Equivalency in education and work experience accepted (1 year education = 1 year experience).

Additional Information

This full-time position requires a 40-hour workweek, Monday through Friday, onsite at the Salt Lake City campus. The salary is approximately $65,000 per year. The candidate may be subject to background and drug screening.
