About ERG and Position Overview

ERG is a multidisciplinary research and consulting firm serving federal, state, and commercial clients with expertise in engineering, science, economics, public health, IT, and communications. The Research Analyst role is in our Economic and Policy Analysis practice, supporting policy-driven research for agencies such as HHS, USCG, DPH, OSHA, FDA, and EPA.

Key Duties

• Perform technical analyses for domestic projects related to public health, worker safety, and environmental policies and regulations.
• Manage and analyze large datasets via data cleaning, merging, matching, and visualization using statistical tools like R, Python, or SAS.
• Implement Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) techniques.
• Apply AI and machine learning methods across different project types.
• Conduct comprehensive technical literature reviews.
• Assist senior staff with assessing the benefits, costs, and impacts of regulations, policies, and programs.
• Contribute to evaluations of public health and environmental programs using both established and innovative quantitative and qualitative methodologies.
• Support data collection efforts, including field and web surveys, interviews, and focus groups.
• Prepare portions of reports, memos, quantitative models, and presentations.

Qualifications and Skills

• Bachelor’s degree in economics or a quantitative discipline like mathematical economics, data science, statistics, computer science, or sociology.
• Competent in programming and data analysis using R, Python, C, C++, SAS, or STATA.
• Skilled in conducting both quantitative and qualitative technical analyses.
• Experience implementing RAG methodologies.
• Proficient in deploying AI and machine learning tools effectively in varied projects.
• Strong deadline management across multiple projects.
• Excellent written and verbal communication, able to explain complex analyses to non-technical audiences.
• Highly organized with effective time management.
• Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite including Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Excel, and Teams.
