Overview
Join Work Health and Safety Queensland (WHSQ) under the Office of Industrial Relations (OIR) as a Regional Coordinator based in Cairns, Queensland. This full-time onsite role centers on leading the administration and finance operations across North Queensland, supporting safer workplace initiatives. You will steer regional human resources, asset and fleet management, while also contributing to budget handling, reporting, and operational performance improvements.
Key Responsibilities
- Evaluate and propose improvements in information systems and management practices, implementing effective strategies for change.
- Provide leadership for regional human resources, asset, and fleet management, ensuring compliance with corporate procedures through liaison with Corporate Services.
- Support the Regional Director with budget preparation and coordinate the region's budget and performance reporting aligned with departmental norms.
- Monitor financial reporting performance, identify discrepancies, and enact corrective measures as necessary.
- Manage administrative staff allocations across multiple offices, applying modern HR practices to boost performance and skills development.
- Develop and maintain regional standards and procedures for compliance with departmental quality systems, including management of correspondence protocols.
- Actively contribute to a supportive team environment that promotes quality HR management, equity, antidiscrimination, occupational health and safety, and ethical conduct.
About the Team
The North Region WHS Inspectorate focuses on enhancing worker safety throughout Queensland via education, compliance monitoring, and regulatory enforcement. The team responds to workplace incidents, enforces safety legislation, manages compliance campaigns, and supports industry guidance. As Regional Coordinator, you'll ensure the administration supports effective regulatory outcomes, crucial to protecting Queensland's workforce.
