Job description
About WorldQuant
WorldQuant is a pioneering firm that creates and applies systematic financial strategies spanning diverse asset classes and global markets. The company focuses on developing superior predictive signals (alphas) via its proprietary research platform, which serve as the foundation for market inefficiency-focused financial tactics. Collaboration is key, with teams working together to produce high-quality alphas and investment strategies supporting a robust international investment framework.
WorldQuant fosters a culture merging academic rigor with a strong commitment to results. Employees are encouraged to approach problems with both intellectual openness and practicality, challenging existing paradigms and pursuing continual enhancement of methods. The organization seeks outstanding talent with exceptional intellectual capacity, valuing originality and a commitment to building success without a predefined blueprint.
Role Overview
As a Quantitative Researcher, you will engage primarily in rigorous research aimed at discovering new predictive signals that the broader market has yet to identify. Your work involves creating mathematical models derived from data to anticipate movements in global financial markets. Though prior financial experience is not mandatory, applicants should cultivate a keen interest in finance and global market dynamics. This role is ideal for individuals exhibiting a researcher’s mindset—creative, intelligent, self-motivated, persistent, and analytical thinkers drawn to complex challenges.
Qualifications and Expectations
- Strong educational background with a Bachelor's (Hons), Master’s, or PhD degree in highly quantitative or analytical disciplines such as Mathematics, Physics, Computer Science, or Financial Engineering, preferably from reputed institutions.
- A research scientist’s approach characterized by deep thinking, creativity, perseverance, intelligence, and initiative.
- Proficiency in Linear Algebra, Statistics, Machine Learning, and Artificial Intelligence.
- Familiarity with programming languages like Python and Unix environments.
- Effective command of the English language.
- A passionate interest in learning about global financial markets.
- A persistent and strong work ethic driven by a desire to excel.
- Previous experience in finance or trading is advantageous but not essential.
