Role Overview
We are seeking a Purchasing Manager for our Charleston, SC location to lead procurement activities for fasteners and related materials. This full-time, on-site position involves managing supplier partnerships, negotiating terms and pricing, and ensuring purchase orders maintain adequate inventory to meet operational and customer demands. Coordination with sales, warehouse, and operational teams will be essential to align stock levels with demand forecasts and ensure efficient supply chain flow.
The manager will assess supplier reliability and quality, address any delivery or product issues, and work continuously to improve purchasing and inventory management processes. Maintaining detailed purchase records, performing cost analyses, and supporting strategic sourcing initiatives are also key functions of the role.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Experience in procurement and purchasing activities including supplier relationship management, contract negotiation, and sourcing industrial or fastener products.
- Competence in inventory control and supply chain management encompassing demand forecasting, stock monitoring, and team collaboration across warehouse and operations units.
- Proficiency in data analysis and reporting utilizing tools such as spreadsheets, ERP or inventory management systems, and cost evaluation for effective purchasing decisions.
- Strong communication abilities, both written and verbal, with capability to build lasting supplier relationships and work cross-functionally.
- Excellent organizational skills, problem-solving aptitude, and attention to detail, enabling multi-task prioritization and resolution of delivery or quality challenges promptly.
- Preferably, background in wholesale distribution or industrial goods, supervisory experience, and familiarity with fasteners and related components.
- A relevant associate’s or bachelor’s degree in business, supply chain, or closely related field, or equivalent professional experience.
