Job description

About the Role

This position offers either part-time or full-time engagement under a fixed-term contract concluding on 30th June 2027, with a possibility for continuation. The workplace is based in Turner, ACT, with flexible working arrangements available. The organisation values wellbeing, inclusivity, and professional growth within a community-oriented and mission-focused environment.

As a Psychologist, you will deliver evidence-driven psychological assessment, formulation, and interventions for clients dealing with moderate to severe mental health issues. Your duties will involve supporting individuals facing complex and intersecting challenges such as minority stress, trauma, suicidality, disability, neurodivergence, substance use, aging, and domestic or family violence. You'll craft comprehensive treatment and safety plans, alongside referral strategies, aimed at achieving meaningful client wellbeing targets. Collaboration with internal team members and external partners is essential to provide holistic and integrated care for the populations served by Meridian.

Candidate Profile

The ideal applicant will have tertiary qualifications in Psychology and hold unrestricted general registration with AHPRA. You should possess a minimum of two years' clinical experience in psychological therapy and assessment, including handling a caseload and engaging with complex client presentations. A strong dedication to inclusive, strengths-based, trauma-informed, and gender-affirming practices is expected. Communication skills highlighted by warmth, professionalism, and cultural humility are essential, alongside the ability to work effectively both autonomously and in a team setting. Prior experience in therapeutic group facilitation, neurodiversity-affirming support, EMDR, Schema Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, or drafting gender-affirming medical care support letters is viewed favorably.

  • Employees receive an additional five days of paid Wellbeing Leave on a pro rata basis.
  • Generous opportunities for external supervision and professional development are offered.
  • Access to Fringe Benefits Tax (FBT)-exempt salary packaging is provided to enhance net earnings.
  • A Flexible Employee Assistance Program is available to support staff wellbeing.
