Role Overview

This position involves delivering professional prosecution services within the Gold Coast Police Prosecution Corps, which comprises over fifty staff members including sworn and civilian prosecutors supported by administrative personnel. Prosecutors handle legal proceedings related to the Southport Magistrates Court District and its satellite office at Coolangatta. The role offers extensive experience across all criminal matters in Magistrates Courts, with specialisation opportunities in the Domestic and Family Violence Court.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide prosecution services within the assigned jurisdiction.
• Represent the Queensland Police Service and its members in legal matters and proceedings before Magistrates, Children's, and Coroners Courts.
• Deliver legal advice concerning court processes within the relevant area of responsibility.
• Ensure the quality of police-prepared briefs of evidence is consistently high by monitoring their provision.
• Engage, consult, and negotiate with Queensland Police Service personnel, legal professionals, government bodies, and community stakeholders to foster effective collaboration and achieve policing objectives.
• Recognise environmental factors impacting the work area and contribute proactively to the preparation of legal research, arguments, submissions, and advice.
• Uphold exemplary standards of performance and conduct in all daily duties.

Mandatory Requirements

• Admission or eligibility for immediate admission to practice as a legal practitioner in the State of Queensland.
