Position Summary

The Project Manager will lead the management and successful execution of commercial ship repair projects in Honolulu, Hawaii, ranging from $1 million to $20 million in value. Reporting directly to the Vice President of Production, this individual will be the main liaison for clients and responsible for ensuring projects adhere to financial, contractual, operational, and quality expectations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Act as the central point of contact for customers throughout project execution.
  • Oversee all stages of assigned ship repair and commercial projects including scope, timeline, budget, risk, and customer satisfaction.
  • Lead project planning efforts such as scheduling, resource management, forecasting, and strategy formulation.
  • Monitor financial aspects including budget control, labor utilization, costs, revenue, and profitability.
  • Negotiate and manage contract changes, change orders, and expanded work opportunities.
  • Coordinate cross-functional activities involving production, engineering, procurement, quality, subcontractors, and customers.
  • Identify risks and implement mitigation strategies to ensure successful project outcomes.
  • Conduct project meetings to update customers, management, and internal teams on project status and priorities.
  • Ensure strict compliance with safety, environmental, quality, and contractual requirements.
  • Support proposal development, cost estimating, and customer relationship management as needed.
  • Perform other related duties including non-commercial projects as assigned.

Required Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
  • Minimum 10 years of industry experience in ship repair or marine sectors.
  • At least 5 years of demonstrated project management experience.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification is preferred.
  • Knowledge of federal contract management and shipboard lock-out tag-out procedures is advantageous.
  • Experience with work sequencing, scheduling, and project controls is highly valued.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Project or similar scheduling software.

Employment Requirements

  • Must have legal right to work in the United States and be a U.S. citizen due to security clearance requirements.
  • Ability to obtain Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) and Defense Biometric Identification System (DBIDS) badges for site access.
  • Passing a post-offer drug test and background check are mandatory.
  • Possess valid Hawaii REAL ID-compliant driver's license or a valid U.S. passport coupled with a valid state driver’s license (Class 3 or higher preferred).
  • Reliable personal transportation to ensure timely arrival at work and job sites.
  • Flexibility to work varying hours as needed.
