Production Engineer

Job Overview

The Production Engineer applies engineering knowledge related to production, working with moderate guidance and leadership support. The role involves resolving a variety of straightforward production issues by analyzing alternative solutions, utilizing established procedures, and deepening understanding of company operations, processes, and customer needs. The engineer considers vital business factors to address problems through technical expertise and informed judgment.

Responsibilities

• Analyze project scope, scheduling, and specifications to fully understand requirements and delivery objectives
• Develop detailed Scope of Work and Task Listings
• Evaluate fabrication schedules and provide feedback to planning teams for adjustments
• Assess drawings for constructability and detect special item or subcontractor demands
• Monitor monthly material reports to identify and report any issues with supply deliveries
• Review material requisitions carefully before ordering
• Verify material grades and plate sizing assumptions
• Initiate site queries to leverage available material substitutions
• Offer on-site guidance ensuring adherence to company specifications
• Participate in production meetings, raising concerns where applicable
• Track scope changes and production revision orders diligently
• Report weekly fabrication progress and oversee production man-hour utilization and productivity
• Analyze four-week look-ahead plans to spot constraints like material or drawing delays
• Collaborate with construction engineers to ensure timely issuance of procedures and clear communication regarding changes
• Manage subcontract scope coordination
• Review as-built drawings for accuracy
• Coordinate material movement within the yard efficiently
• Work with shop and erection floor planning to ensure project plan compliance
• Approve relevant fabrication drawings and verify Work Pack deliverables align with the Work Pack Index

Qualifications and Education

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering
• Minimum of 3 years industry experience in oil and gas within a major contractor or consultancy environment
• Familiarity with API RP2A, AISC, and AWS standards and applications
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• In-depth knowledge of industry benchmarks and best practices for production processes and facilities
