Produce Coordinator

Overview

The Produce Coordinator is responsible for managing the Produce department, including overseeing staff, productivity, inventory management, signage, and budgeting. This role emphasizes delivering exemplary professional customer service and supervising the processes of ordering, receiving, merchandising, and stocking fresh produce.

Position situated in the Central District of Seattle, Washington at 2230 East Union Street.

Primary Responsibilities

• Deliver and exemplify outstanding customer service while mentoring produce staff in these practices.
• Manage produce department operations such as scheduling, profitability, productivity, budget control, inventory, pricing, signage, and reporting.
• Oversee the processes of ordering, receiving, stocking, and merchandising produce.
• Provide leadership, direction, supervision, and mentorship to team members within the produce department.
• Ensure sanitation, cleanliness, and safety standards are consistently met to guarantee the health and safety of staff.
• Participate as a member of the Store Operating Committee.

Qualifications and Skills

• Demonstrated ability to deliver exemplary professional customer service.
• Extensive experience managing high-volume retail produce operations, including ordering, receiving, inventory, and merchandising.
• Previous supervisory experience in a similar role is required.
• Understanding of accounting, budgeting, and inventory practices, with the ability to apply this knowledge to achieve performance targets.
• Proficient at controlling shrinkage and gross profits while maintaining product quality.
• In-depth knowledge of fresh produce, including seasonal availability.
• Familiarity with sustainable and organic agriculture is highly desired.
• Strong organizational and planning capabilities.
• Excellent leadership, team building, problem-solving, and communication skills.
• Computer literacy, including Microsoft Office and file management.
• Flexibility to work variable shifts, including weekends.
• Capability to physically perform tasks such as standing, bending, twisting, repetitive actions, and regularly lifting 10–40 lbs.
• Possession of a current Food Worker Card from the Washington State Department of Health.
• Upon hiring, certification as a Food Protection Manager (e.g., ServSafe) will be required and provided by the employer.
• CPR/First Aid certification is also required, provided by the employer.
• Applicants must be at least 18 years old.

Compensation Details

The starting wage for this position is $32.15 per hour.
