Position Overview

We have an opening for a Process Engineer within the Projects / Facilities Design Engineering team at the Bengaluru office. Reporting to the Process Engineering Lead, this role involves supporting Chevron's global operations with working hours tailored to business needs, typically Monday to Friday, either 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM or 1:30 PM to 10:30 PM, subject to change based on operational demands.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver process engineering design support for downstream, midstream, and chemicals capital projects throughout project development and execution phases.
  • Prepare, adjust, and evaluate process design documentation including heat and material balances, process datasheets, simulations, integrated basis of design, and calculations as required for projects.
  • Review process designs to ensure operational efficiency, reliability, maintenance ease, and safety compliance.
  • Assist in the creation of engineering work packages and collaborate closely with cross-functional engineering teams and subject matter experts.
  • Manage multiple projects and initiatives concurrently within process systems.
  • Create and update detailed process simulation models using tools such as HYSYS and PRO/II to assess design and operational scenarios.
  • Conduct engineering analyses including mass and energy balances, fluid dynamics, heat transfer, process control concepts, and equipment sizing.
  • Utilize process monitoring and data analytics platforms like PI and Seeq to aid project development and support decisions.
  • Participate actively in process safety activities such as Process Hazard Analyses and Layers of Protection Analysis.
  • Support Management of Change procedures for process designs and modifications, applying industry-standard process safety management principles including alarm management and safe operational practices.
  • Collaborate with operations, maintenance, automation, project controls, and other engineering disciplines for integrated project delivery with EPC partners.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement efforts, standardization, and knowledge sharing within the Portfolio and Planning group.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering or related engineering discipline from a recognized AICTE-approved university.
  • At least 10 years of experience in process engineering or design within refining, LNG, or complex oil and gas processing facilities.
  • Proven ability to support process design and capital projects in a multidisciplinary engineering environment.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills suitable for interaction in a global workplace.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience with refining and processing technologies such as crude/vacuum distillation, fluid catalytic cracking, hydroprocessing, hydrogen production, and amine or sour water systems.
  • Strong proficiency in process simulation software (e.g., HYSYS, PRO/II) with capability to convert simulation outcomes into actionable design and operating guidance.
  • Familiarity with process monitoring and analytics tools (e.g., PI, Seeq) to support optimization and troubleshooting initiatives.
  • Working knowledge of Process Safety Management including participation in PHAs and MOC, and adherence to safety in design and operations.
  • Experience ranging from 10 to 15 years supporting capital projects or operating facilities as a process engineer.
