Platform Architect

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Platform Architect to join our team based in Singapore, focusing on designing and evolving scalable platform architectures leveraging Microsoft Azure technology. This role is on-site and demands expertise in building efficient, secure, and automated cloud platforms aligned with business objectives.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and advance the Azure platform architecture for the Digital Factory including landing zones, network topology, identity/access, policy-as-code, security guardrails, and multi-environment designs (sandbox, QA, UAT, production).
• Create platform operating models to facilitate infrastructure-as-code, automation, continuous integration/delivery, self-service provisioning, golden paths, and repeatable environment patterns for product teams.
• Interpret business and delivery goals into architecture decisions balancing delivery speed, control, costs, security, compliance, resilience, and accountability.
• Design composable platform architecture patterns supporting modular reusable services, APIs, integrations and system-of-systems approaches across products.
• Establish architecture standards and reference models for cloud-native apps, shared platform features, AI-enabled services, container workloads and Azure-managed services.
• Guide governed data platform and AI/ML architecture patterns encompassing data products, managed AI services, application hardening, access control, monitoring, and production readiness.
• Incorporate observability, incident response, service health monitoring, and operational transparency for cost, performance, compliance, and service ownership at scale.
• Shape financial operations and total cost of ownership strategies covering tagging, cost allocation, budget controls, usage dashboards, reporting, and accountability mechanisms.
• Collaborate with engineers, product owners, security, audit, finance, and leadership to align platform architecture with governance and business outcomes.
• Document architecture decisions, reusable patterns, trade-offs, principles, and operational procedures to support adoption and continuous improvement.

Required Qualifications

• Over 10 years of experience in solution, platform, enterprise, or cloud architecture with significant Microsoft Azure platform design experience within enterprise or regulated settings.
• Proficient in Azure platform architecture including landing zones, hub-and-spoke or virtual WAN networking, identity/access models, subscription/management groups, policy governance, and multi-environment setups.
• Experienced in platform operating models supporting infrastructure-as-code, automated provisioning, GitOps, CI/CD pipelines, reusable templates, product management processes, and self-service workflows.
• Skilled at translating business objectives and policy requirements into viable architecture principles, target states, design patterns, trade-offs, and roadmaps.
• Deep knowledge of security, compliance, governance-by-design including policy-as-code, least privilege access, network segmentation, secrets management, secure release controls, and audit mechanisms.
• Well-versed in modern software delivery architectures including CI/CD pipelines, deployment promotion/rollback, quality controls, release governance and developer experience optimization.
• Familiar with data platform and AI/ML patterns: governed data products, Azure AI services, application hardening, model integration, and ethical AI controls.
• Experience establishing observability and operational frameworks using Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, dashboards, incident management, and platform health metrics.
• Strong understanding of cloud financial management, cost accounting, tagging strategies, budgeting, optimization, and transparency in cloud TCO.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills to clarify architecture trade-offs to technical and non-technical audiences.
• Adept at working in agile, product-centric environments delivering incremental platform capabilities and iteratively improving adoption.

Preferred Experience

• Experience working within government or public sector cloud environments or other regulated enterprises.
• Familiarity with Azure DevOps, GitHub, Terraform, Azure Bicep, API Management, Azure Container Apps, Microsoft Entra ID, Microsoft Sentinel, Defender for Cloud and equivalent tools.
• Exposure to Microsoft Fabric, Azure OpenAI, Synapse analytics, data lakehouse design, data governance frameworks, model operations and AI governance.
• Background in designing developer portals, internal platforms, APIs, service catalogues, self-service workflows, and reusable engineering practices.
• Knowledge of site reliability engineering (SRE) practices including incident automation, reliability engineering, SLIs/SLOs, and operational readiness reviews.
• Understanding of enterprise architecture methods, architecture decision records, capability mapping, technology roadmaps and architecture governance forums.
