About The Ottawa Hospital
The Ottawa Hospital (TOH) stands as one of Canada's largest multi-campus teaching and research hospitals, featuring over 1,400 beds and approximately 17,000 staff, physicians, residents, and volunteers. Position Overview
TOH employs nearly 200 Physiotherapists across two acute care campuses, the Rehabilitation Centre, and two Transitional Care Units. Physiotherapists work within interdisciplinary teams including assistants, Occupational Therapists, Social Workers, nurses, RPNs, physicians, and often Speech-Language Pathologists, Registered Dieticians, and Psychologists. They serve a broad range of units such as General Surgery, Trauma, Stroke, ICU, Geriatrics, Oncology, Neurosurgery, Orthopedics, Emergency, and more.
Work Schedule
Shifts include days and evenings, weekend work, with durations of 4 and 8 hours. The hospital reserves the right to adjust scheduling as necessary.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver physiotherapy care to adult patients from emergency room admissions through ICU, acute care, and post-acute rehabilitation phases.
- Encourage mobility, wellness, and patient independence across various TOH campuses and partner institutions.
- Apply extensive clinical expertise to assess, diagnose, and treat a wide array of conditions.
- Engage actively in all stages of patients' recovery journeys to enhance quality of life.
Essential Qualifications
- Master's degree in Physiotherapy or equivalent recognized by the College of Physiotherapists of Ontario (CPO).
- Successful registration and examination completion as required by CPO.
- Familiarity with CPO regulatory standards.
- Certification eligibility in CPR and/or First Aid.
- Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
- Sound judgment and problem-solving aptitude.
- Authorization to work in Canada.
Preferred Criteria
- Recent experience in an acute care setting.
- Consideration given to Physiotherapy Residents.
- Advanced oral and comprehension skills in both English and French.
