Keka is a SaaS-based Human Resource Management System (HRMS) platform designed to streamline employee lifecycle processes including hiring, onboarding, attendance tracking, payroll processing, performance management, and learning within a single unified system. Established over a decade ago, Keka serves approximately 10,000 clients across India, the United States, and the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) regions.
Role Overview
This position involves full responsibility for the end-to-end management of payroll services for a set of clients managed by Keka in the US. This hands-on and client-centered role encompasses overseeing payroll operations, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local tax regulations, maintaining strong client relationships, and guaranteeing timely deliverables.
Key Responsibilities
- Execute comprehensive payroll cycles for US clients on bi-weekly, semi-monthly, and monthly schedules.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant federal, state, and local payroll tax filings and regulations.
- Handle complexities such as multi-state payroll processing, benefits, garnishments, deductions, and perform payroll reconciliations.
- Manage payroll-related notices, amendments, and address compliance issues effectively.
- Serve as the main client liaison, fostering strong professional relationships.
- Oversee delivery schedules, service level agreements, escalations, and maintain clear client communications.
- Identify inefficiencies and lead initiatives aimed at process automation and continuous improvement.
Qualifications and Skills
- Extensive understanding of US payroll processes and tax compliance, especially for multi-state payroll operations.
- Minimum of 3 years' experience executing payroll services within HR technology, payroll technology, or B2B SaaS sectors.
- Proficiency with platforms like Gusto, Rippling, Justworks, Deel, Papaya, TriNet, ADP, Paylocity, Paycom, or Paycor.
- Excellent communication skills with strong client facing and stakeholder engagement abilities.
- Proven ownership mindset, high attention to detail, and proficient problem-solving skills.
- Advanced knowledge of Excel and strong analytical capabilities to detect and resolve payroll discrepancies.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with CheckHQ or comparable modern US payroll platforms.
- Professional certifications such as FPC or CPP.
- Expertise in managing multi-state payrolls and experience with vendor migration projects.
- Familiarity with advanced Excel functions, SQL, or business intelligence dashboards.
- Knowledge of state tax registration processes.
