Network Supervisor - 3 Waters, Southland

Role Overview

Take charge of leading a team dedicated to maintaining Southland's vital water services. This role is deeply involved in overseeing the operations, upkeep, and performance management of the Southland District Council's 3 Waters assets, covering potable water, wastewater, and stormwater networks.

Responsibilities

• Lead field teams and contractors ensuring safe, efficient, and high-quality work delivery.
• Manage day-to-day operational planning, maintenance activities, and network performance monitoring.
• Coordinate and respond to both planned and emergency maintenance tasks.
• Provide technical guidance and support to field teams.
• Collaborate with contractors, stakeholders, customers, and internal teams to align work with contractual, environmental, and regulatory standards.
• Investigate customer concerns and assess network performance data to identify improvements.
• Develop maintenance priorities and contribute to the successful execution of contractual obligations.

Candidate Profile

• Extensive experience in water, wastewater, stormwater or related utilities infrastructure.
• Possession of a Level 4 Water Reticulation qualification is preferred.
• Holder of a Full Class 1 Driver Licence; Class 2 and W, T, R endorsements are advantageous.
• Demonstrated leadership experience managing field crews and contractor teams.
• Sound understanding of maintenance operations, fault response protocols, and overall network management.
• Strong skills in prioritisation, planning, and problem-solving.
• Ability to effectively juggle reactive tasks, customer requests, and scheduled maintenance.
• Excellent communication abilities for engaging with customers, council representatives, contractors, and other stakeholders.
• Experience in maintaining operational records, reporting, and managing asset information.
• Firm dedication to health, safety, environmental compliance, and ongoing improvement initiatives.
• Training in Traffic Management, Confined Space, and Hazard Awareness is considered a plus.
