Job Overview

This role involves remote contract work for a Microbiologist with YO IT Consulting based in the United States. The position requires detailed examination and analysis of microorganisms including bacteria, fungi, and algae, specifically targeting their morphology, development, and behaviour. The work supports projects in medical microbiology and AI development focused on microbial phenomena.

Key Duties

  • Conduct investigations into the structure and behaviours of microscopic life forms such as bacteria, fungi, and algae.
  • Support research linking microorganisms to diseases and contribute to medical microbiology studies.
  • Evaluate the effects of antibiotics and other substances on microbial communities to aid AI model precision.
  • Record experimental results and procedures with an emphasis on clarity for AI training purposes.
  • Work collaboratively with cross-disciplinary teams to ensure scientific validity and data quality for AI applications.
  • Provide expert scientific communication both written and oral on microbiology relevant to practical and computational use cases.
  • Utilize rubrics and defined assessment standards to examine data quality and enhance AI training workflows.

Qualifications and Skills Required

  • Completion of a bachelor's degree or higher in Biology, Microbiology, Chemistry, or closely related scientific fields.
  • In-depth understanding of bacterial, fungal, and algal biological systems.
  • Proven ability to study microbial physiology and cellular structures.
  • Strong technical writing and verbal communication abilities suitable for interdisciplinary collaboration.
  • Skill in detailed documentation of scientific work to integrate findings into artificial intelligence systems.
  • Self-motivated and capable of efficiently managing tasks in a fully remote, digitally-enabled workspace.
  • High attention to detail with a dedication to maintaining scientific rigor and data accuracy.

Preferred Experience

  • Experience developing or applying structured evaluation rubrics in scientific or educational settings.
  • Background in working with AI, machine learning, or annotation projects particularly linked with biology or microbiology.
  • Possession of an advanced degree such as a Master's or PhD in a relevant discipline.
