Role Overview

We are seeking a reliable and enthusiastic individual to join our team in Windsor as a Merchandise Processing Team Member. This role is crucial behind the scenes to ensure a smooth, organized, and enjoyable thrift store experience for customers. Duties include inspecting, sorting, tagging, and organizing donations for sale, maintaining inventory flow, and supporting the sales floor. This position requires a team player with a positive attitude who can adapt to a fast-paced retail setting and uphold Talize’s values.

Key Responsibilities

• Inspect, sort, grade, tag, and price incoming merchandise according to established company standards.
• Organize merchandise by category, size, and color on rolling racks to optimize store presentation.
• Manage donation flow, support floor changes, replenish stock, and prepare for sale days.
• Complete daily processing routines like sorting, labeling bins, maintaining color-tag rotation, and ensuring inventory freshness.
• Maintain cleanliness and safety standards in processing areas, adhering to PPE usage, lifting, and safety protocols.
• Report any hazards or incidents and ensure work areas are free of obstacles or risks.
• Actively participate in team huddles, communicate effectively with peers and leadership, and contribute to a respectful and productive environment.

Candidate Profile

• Keen attention to detail with consistency in work quality.
• Ability to work comfortably in a fast-paced, physically demanding environment.
• Strong team orientation and excellent communication skills.
• Preferred experience in warehouse operations, inventory management, or retail back-of-house tasks.
• Knowledge of thrift or second-hand merchandise grading is an asset.

Physical Demands and Work Environment

• Regular periods of standing, walking, bending, reaching, twisting, and continuous movement throughout shifts.
• Capability to lift weights up to 50 pounds and push/pull rolling containers weighing up to 500 pounds.
• Exposure to dust, dirt, insects, garbage, and occasional rodents is expected.
• Work conditions include noise and variable temperatures.
• Availability to work days, evenings, weekends, holidays, and closing shifts is required.
• Frequent interaction with customers and the public.

Schedule and Availability

This role requires open availability, including working weekends, holidays, and closing shifts to meet store operational demands.
