Role Overview
This full-time Mechanical Designer position based in Fort Eustis, VA requires creating and refining mechanical designs and technical drawings for military systems and associated equipment. Key responsibilities include developing detailed component and assembly models using CAD software, collaborating with engineering teams to meet design, safety, and performance standards, as well as maintaining and updating documentation reflecting testing outcomes and feedback.
Responsibilities
- Develop and enhance detailed 2D and 3D CAD models supporting military system design needs.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering teams to ensure design compliance with performance and safety standards.
- Participate in research and development, utilizing test data to improve prototypes and refine designs.
- Review technical specifications and assist in production planning to align with manufacturing capabilities and standards.
- Contribute to continuous improvement of design processes and quality of deliverables.
Qualifications
- Proficient with CAD software for creating accurate mechanical drawings and models.
- Solid understanding of machine design principles, mechanical engineering fundamentals, materials science, manufacturing methods, and structural analysis.
- Experience supporting R&D activities including prototype evaluation and incorporation of test feedback into design revisions.
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Design Technology, or a related discipline, or equivalent education combined with relevant experience.
- Knowledge of defense or aerospace industry standards and documentation preferred.
- Able to interpret engineering documentation, technical manuals, and compliance requirements effectively.
- Strong communication skills enabling clear presentation of design concepts and effective teamwork.
- Detail-oriented with excellent organizational capability to manage multiple design assignments in a dynamic environment.
