Job Overview
The Maintenance Technician is tasked with installing, repairing, and performing upkeep on large-scale industrial textile processing equipment along with general facility maintenance. Duties cover starting and shutting down machinery, electrical troubleshooting, and operating boilers, welding, and systems such as hydraulics and pneumatics. This role reports directly to the Chief Engineer and offers an hourly wage ranging from 30 to 35 dollars, dependent upon skills and qualifications.
Primary Responsibilities
- Perform installation, repairs, and preventive maintenance on industrial processing machinery, water levels, water systems, and related equipment.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot electrical problems effectively.
- Address daily maintenance requests promptly to reduce equipment downtime.
- Carry out emergency and unscheduled repairs on production equipment.
- Identify problems, replace or repair parts, conduct testing, and implement necessary adjustments.
- Continuously seek improvements in maintenance methods and processes.
- Collaborate professionally with all plant personnel.
- Adhere strictly to all safety rules, policies, and procedures as mandated by the company and legal standards.
- Ensure that all work is done safely and efficiently.
- Keep up-to-date with technical knowledge by participating in training workshops and reviewing technical materials.
- Review blueprints and manufacturer manuals to understand proper machinery operations.
- Interpret electrical schematics proficiently.
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities timely.
- Follow both written and verbal instructions and assist with additional tasks as assigned.
- Comply with all applicable federal, state, and local laws.
Additional Duties
- Provide support to other branch team members as directed.
- Drive to pick up parts and transport equipment as needed.
Qualifications
- Must hold and maintain a valid driver's license with a clean driving record free of accidents or violations.
- At least two years of maintenance engineering experience with knowledge in machinery, electrical and electronic systems, plumbing, hydraulics, pneumatics, welding, and boiler applications.
- Proficient in the use of both power and hand tools.
- Experience with PLC programming.
- Skills in carpentry, boiler repair, welding, and general facility maintenance.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills in English, ability to follow directions, basic math competency, and good time-management skills.
- Team-oriented with enthusiasm, initiative, pride in quality workmanship, and self-motivation for continuous improvement.
Education
- Minimum 5th Class Power Engineer certification preferred, with a preference for 4th class.
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Some locations may require certifications such as boiler licenses or PLC programming qualifications.
Physical Demands
- Tasks include standing, sitting, walking, bending, stooping, reaching, twisting, kneeling, working in confined spaces, operating forklifts, grasping and moving equipment, and lifting items up to 75 lbs, with carts up to 500 lbs.
Work Environment
- Work is performed indoors and outdoors at an industrial laundry facility, involving exposure to large machinery, temperature changes, noise, odors, humidity, lint, and dust.
Travel
- Occasional travel is required, such as for parts procurement.
