Job Summary
Serving the Joondalup region in Western Australia, this Local Area Coordinator position focuses on empowering individuals with disabilities, their families, and carers to live fulfilling lives. The role involves facilitating their engagement with the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) and promoting choice, control, and community participation.
Key Responsibilities
- Aid individuals with permanent and significant disabilities in applying for NDIS supports.
- Collaborate with participants to establish personal goals.
- Link people with disabilities to community-based support services.
- Support participants in navigating the NDIS to maximize their benefits.
- Enhance community understanding of the NDIS and identify new services to connect participants with.
- Achieve designated contractual key performance indicators (KPIs).
Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate is approachable, optimistic, compassionate, and respectful, able to build and maintain relationships with confidence. They possess strong empathy and a deep understanding of diverse individual needs within the community and can effectively guide and connect people toward meaningful outcomes.
Qualifications and Experience
- Relevant work experience or lived experience related to disability support.
- Proven ability to collaborate with people in goal planning and achieving shared objectives.
- Familiarity with the local community resources for social and economic participation for people with disabilities.
- Proficiency in computer skills, particularly Microsoft Office 365.
- Willingness and eligibility to hold a Working with Children and/or Vulnerable People Check.
