About the Role
Save the Children International is seeking a Lead for IT Change & Interventions to support the development, configuration, and ongoing improvement of global digital business and operating systems used across the organization and its members. This pivotal role focuses on managing application portfolios to ensure they meet business needs and deliver impactful outcomes for children worldwide. The role requires close collaboration with Transformation Delivery teams and various business units to successfully deliver IT projects and changes.
The Lead will be part of a team responsible for managing transformation initiatives, IT change requests, projects outside formal transformation portfolios, planning and delivery oversight, and continuous improvements, with a particular focus on testing. They will operate within established methodologies and governance, working alongside other project and change managers in a matrix environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead IT-specific portfolio elements based on organizational priorities and demands.
- Manage and oversee transformation initiatives, IT change requests, and other technology interventions.
- Develop and implement test approaches, methodologies, and risk-based testing strategies aligned with project functional scopes.
- Conduct impact analysis on IT changes and provide support for business case development, prioritization, and sequencing.
- Apply industry best practices and frameworks such as ITIL, Agile, and DevOps, ensuring appropriate governance and accountability.
- Engage collaboratively with global stakeholders, including senior leadership and diverse teams across different contexts.
- Provide mentoring and coaching to strengthen IT team capabilities outside formal reporting lines.
- Manage projects in hybrid delivery environments, maintaining high delivery standards within dynamic, fast-changing contexts.
Requirements
- Extensive experience with large, complex IT environments and operational change management.
- Proven expertise in developing and implementing testing strategies with a clear risk-based approach.
- Strong background in IT change request handling, release management, or technology roadmap delivery.
- Ability to assess IT change impacts and support functional teams in business case creation and prioritization.
- Familiarity with IT industry frameworks such as ITIL, Agile, DevOps, supported by formal training or applied experience.
- Experience interacting and collaborating with global stakeholders and senior leaders in matrix organizations.
- Demonstrated skills in mentoring and capacity building within IT teams.
- Project management experience, including operating across hybrid delivery models.
- Desirable: Experience in the nonprofit sector, especially international development projects.
- Desirable: Proficiency in French, Spanish, or Arabic.
Education & Certifications
- Essential certifications in Project Management (such as PMP, Prince2) or Agile methodologies (like ScrumMaster, Agile Certified Practitioner) are required.
- Continuous professional development in technology leadership is advantageous.
- ITIL certification or equivalent IT service management qualifications are a plus.
Additional Information
The position reports to the Director Technology Strategy & Transformation and offers flexible hybrid or remote work options from approved Save the Children International office locations globally. Candidates must have the legal right to work in their chosen country of employment and possess fluency in English. This is a permanent role with a global remit.
