Laundry Worker

Job Overview

The Laundry Worker is responsible for operating laundry machinery involved in processing flat linens and tumble-dried goods. This role includes cleaning and maintaining the assigned workspace to achieve customer and client satisfaction. The position also involves folding, organizing, and distributing cleaned linens to support operational needs.

Key Responsibilities

• Sort and classify soiled linens upon receipt according to designated categories.
• Utilize automatic cart washers and remove linen carts post-washing.
• Operate flatwork ironers and small-piece folding machines, ensuring linens are folded to established standards, including specialty items.
• Maintain quality control standards to ensure linens comply with customer expectations; escalate any quality concerns to lead or supervisor.
• Label and tag linen distribution carts properly and cover them prior to transportation.
• Fold and store linens to uphold cleanliness and organizational standards.
• Assist truck drivers with loading linen and materials onto vehicles.
• Report inventory levels and supply quantities to supervisory staff.
• Keep work area clean, organized, and well-maintained.

Qualifications and Skills

• Previous experience in a high-volume laundry environment is advantageous.
• Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively within a team setting.
• Keen attention to detail and the capability to multitask efficiently.
• Familiarity with following company guidelines, policies, and procedures.
• Effective verbal communication skills.
• Competency in operating laundry-related equipment.
• Strong organizational abilities.

Physical Demands and Safety

This position may require physical activities such as lifting, bending, pushing, pulling, and extended periods of standing or walking. Uniforms and personal protective equipment (PPE) may be required. Potential exposure risks include infectious diseases, electrical hazards, burns, blood contact, heat and humidity, mechanical equipment hazards, and sharp objects.
