Job description
Role Overview
BlackBull Group, a globally regulated multi-asset broker based in Auckland, is seeking a Junior Risk Analyst to join its risk desk under the Head of Risk, APAC. This hands-on position involves active monitoring of live exposure, client trading flow, and execution rather than just reporting.
Key Responsibilities
- Continuously monitor net exposure by instrument and client group within established risk limits and promptly escalate any breaches to senior management.
- Mitigate exposure risks by adjusting trade routing or placing hedges through liquidity providers.
- Implement pre-planned risk controls ahead of key events such as data releases, central bank announcements, and market open/close times.
- Track margin utilization levels and assess client stop-out risk.
- Detect high-risk trading behaviors including latency arbitrage, news-driven trading, high win-rate scalping, and group coordinated trading.
- Analyze client and client group performance; recommend routing adjustments based on behavioral changes.
- Investigate unusual trading activities and report findings to both Risk and Compliance teams.
- Monitor execution quality by reviewing fill prices, execution speeds, and slippage; diagnose root causes related to liquidity provider links, bridge setups, or platform issues.
- Administer weekly updates such as swap rates, margin requirements, market holiday schedules, and daylight saving time adjustments.
- Assist in onboarding processes for new instruments, client segments, and pricing feeds.
- Generate daily reports covering exposure, profit & loss, and execution performance for the risk desk and management.
Required Skills and Experience
- Practical experience with trading platforms like MT4, MT5, or cTrader, including dealer terminal operations.
- Sound understanding of Forex (FX) and Contract for Difference (CFD) trading concepts: pricing mechanisms, leverage, margin, execution, and settlement.
- Capability to interpret exposure and performance data to determine necessary actions.
- Accuracy and composure under pressure, especially where configuration errors have immediate financial impact.
- Strong communication skills for clear verbal and written escalation to senior stakeholders.
- Must have the legal right to work in New Zealand.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in finance, economics, mathematics, science, or engineering disciplines.
- Previous experience within FX, CFD, or derivatives trading environments.
