Citywire España is seeking a Madrid-based Journalist to join their editorial team. This role is ideal for a journalist wanting to move beyond press releases to cover the Spanish asset and wealth management industries comprehensively. Responsibilities include breaking exclusive news, conducting interviews with key industry players, and producing original research for the daily news service.
Key Responsibilities
- Contribute regularly to the online daily news service by sourcing stories and conducting interviews with influential figures within the financial advice and investment sectors.
- Uncover and report exclusive news relevant to financial advisers and the broader investment community.
- Cover topics including asset management operations, regulatory developments, banking, private wealth, and independent financial advisers.
- Balance immediate news coverage with longer-term investigative and research projects aligned with publication schedules.
- Build and sustain an extensive network of contacts within the financial services industry.
- Manage the dissemination of articles across social media platforms to maintain engagement with financial professional audiences.
Required Qualifications and Skills
- Native or fluent Spanish speaker with professional-level proficiency in English.
- Demonstrated experience writing news articles and feature stories.
- Keen interest in financial sectors, including wealth management, banking, and investments, with a motivation to deepen expertise.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills to establish trust with sources, ask insightful questions, and clarify complex information.
- Comfortable utilizing Big Data, AI applications, and specialized analytical tools to interpret market trends and enhance journalistic output.
- Self-motivated and proactive with the ability to initiate story leads and meet deadlines consistently.
