About the Role
Join a developing organisation in Sligo as an Internal Auditor responsible for overseeing the internal audit function. This role focuses on conducting risk-based audits and enhancing governance along with internal controls. Ideal candidates will be qualified accounting professionals possessing Irish auditing experience, adept at engaging with senior level stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and present the annual internal audit plan grounded in risk assessments for the Audit Committee.
- Organize and execute audits to ensure adherence to company policies.
- Perform financial, operational, and IT internal audits plus special reviews.
- Compile audit reports recommending improvements to internal controls.
- Track and ensure resolution of identified control weaknesses.
- Assist management in strengthening controls and implementing industry best practices.
- Oversee the yearly risk assessment initiative.
- Lead or assist in operational and system projects, including handling company secretarial return matters as needed.
Essential Qualifications and Skills
- Fully qualified member of an accredited accountancy institute.
- Experience gained in audit divisions of prominent accountancy firms or internal audit within sizable organisations.
- Demonstrable expertise in auditing under Irish standards is mandatory.
- Analytical capability to evaluate business processes and devise effective audit solutions.
- Eligibility to work in Ireland without need for visa sponsorship.
- Possession of a valid driving licence along with access to a personal vehicle.
Additional Information
- This is a permanent, full-time role based in Sligo.
- Hybrid work options are available following successful probation completion.
- Travel required approximately one day per week, occasionally two days.
- Opportunity to work from home one day weekly post-probation.
