Position Overview

The HR Generalist will manage and oversee daily human resources operations covering the entire employee lifecycle. Emphasis is placed on compliance, precision, and consistent procedural application. This role involves applying sound knowledge of employment regulations and internal company policies to facilitate onboarding, manage leave administration, maintain HRIS data accuracy, and contribute to various HR projects. The individual will exercise prudent judgment within set boundaries, efficiently handle HR inquiries via the HR ticketing system, collaborate closely with HR Business Partners and leadership, and escalate sensitive or complicated matters as needed.

Key Responsibilities

  • Administer leave management programs including FMLA and other leaves of absence by reviewing documentation, monitoring eligibility and timelines, and ensuring exact communication and recordkeeping.
  • Maintain and audit employee records in the HRIS such as job changes, compensation updates, terminations, and routine data integrity checks.
  • Provide administrative assistance for workers' compensation claims by tracking cases and managing related documentation.
  • Handle administrative tasks related to unemployment and post-employment claims, respond to state agencies, and maintain necessary records.
  • Prepare and review compliance documentation and reports to fulfill federal, state, and local employment regulations.
  • Respond to employee and manager inquiries about HR policies, processes, and systems, escalating complex issues to HR Business Partners.
  • Collaborate with HR leadership and cross-functional teams to ensure consistent HR policy application and support HR initiatives.

Candidate Profile

  • A minimum of 3 years progressive experience in human resources, preferably in a generalist or HR operations capacity with a strong foundation in HR practices and compliance.
  • Practical experience handling leave administration, workers' compensation, unemployment claims, and related employment processes.
  • Comfortable working with HRIS platforms, managing employee data and employment lifecycle changes; experience with Rippling is advantageous.
  • Demonstrated skill in preparing HR reports and supporting compliance audits with accurate data management.
  • Strong attention to detail, maintaining confidentiality, and consistent application of policies with sound discretion.
  • Excellent time management abilities to manage multiple priorities effectively without compromising detail accuracy.
  • Clear and professional communication skills, both written and verbal, with good judgment on when to handle or escalate matters.
  • Ability to work independently while coordinating closely with HR leadership and business partners.
  • Proficiency with HRIS tools and Google Office Suite or similar software.
  • Educational background preferably includes an Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related discipline; equivalent practical experience is also valid.
  • Knowledge of federal, state, and local employment legislations; experience handling a multi-state workforce is a plus.
