About the Position
The Radisson Blu Hotel & Spa in Limerick is part of The iNUA Hotel Collection, a hospitality group known for its ambition and focus on people, recognized as a great workplace. We are currently seeking a seasoned Hotel Financial Controller to manage the finance department and drive the hotel’s financial success.
Role Overview
This role reports directly to the General Manager and collaborates closely with the Group Finance team. As a senior leadership team member, you will be responsible for overseeing all financial functions within the hotel, delivering accurate reports, insightful commercial analysis, and maintaining robust financial controls. Key Duties
- Manage daily operations of the hotel’s finance department.
- Compile precise monthly management accounts, forecasts, and budgets annually.
- Provide commercial insights and perform financial analyses to aid decision-making.
- Track revenue, payroll, departmental expenses, profit margins, and overall hotel profitability.
- Collaborate with the General Manager and departmental heads to enhance financial results.
- Oversee accounts payable and receivable, income auditing, cash handling, and banking processes.
- Maintain strict internal controls and monitor compliance with company policies.
- Handle balance sheet reconciliations, accruals, and prepayments.
- Assist with payroll processing and ensure payroll financial data accuracy.
- Monitor capital spending and support investment proposals for hotel enhancements.
- Coordinate year-end financial statements, audits, and statutory filings.
- Ensure adherence to VAT, tax, and other financial regulations.
- Lead, mentor, and develop the hotel finance team members.
- Work collaboratively with the Group Finance team and engage in group-wide initiatives.
Typical Workday
Your day might start by analyzing prior day revenue and performance metrics, followed by discussions with department managers regarding labor costs and forecasts. Managing report preparation, advising the General Manager on financial decisions, or improving financial processes will also be part of your daily tasks, all while keeping the hotel's financial goals in focus.
Candidate Profile
Essential qualifications and experience:
- Previous experience in a Financial Controller or senior hotel finance role.
- Possession of an accredited accounting qualification or extensive relevant finance experience.
- Expertise in budgeting, forecasting, and management accounting.
- Excellent analytical capabilities with keen attention to detail.
- Strong understanding of financial controls, compliance, and audit standards.
- Effective communication skills to present financial data clearly to non-finance team members.
- Comfort working with senior leadership and operational managers.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial reporting software.
Desirable attributes:
- Experience in the hotel, hospitality or tourism industries.
- Background within multi-property hotel groups.
- Familiarity with hotel management systems and industry performance metrics.
