About Grace Hospital
Grace Hospital is Tauranga's sole private hospital, featuring 58 beds, nine operating theatres, and a dedicated endoscopy suite. As the demand for elective private surgery rises, the hospital is expanding its services and facilities. Role Overview
This pivotal leadership role involves guiding one of New Zealand's foremost private hospitals. As General Manager, you will define strategic direction and manage overall hospital performance focusing on top-tier patient care, robust clinical outcomes, and sustainable business success. Collaborating closely with the Board, shareholders, specialists, and the Senior Leadership Team, you will nurture a high-achieving and values-driven workplace where staff are empowered to excel. Additionally, you will enhance Grace Hospital's reputation as the preferred choice for patients, clinicians, and the broader community.
This executive role is hands-on, requiring balance between strategic vision and operational management across clinical quality, patient safety, financial health, workforce development, governance, and risk management. You will contribute to shaping future service expansions, surgical capacity growth, capital projects, technology advancement, and business opportunities. This is a full-time, permanent position based in Tauranga.
Key Responsibilities and Skills
- Provide executive leadership in a hospital or similarly complex healthcare environment, driving strategic and operational achievements.
- Utilize strong commercial and financial expertise, including budget management, business planning, and performance enhancements promoting sustainable growth.
- Lead multidisciplinary teams with an inclusive approach, fostering trust, accountability, and collaboration.
- Develop strong relationships with Boards, shareholders, clinicians, funders, and external partners.
- Successfully manage large-scale organizational change, service expansions, capital projects, or transformation efforts.
- Identify opportunities and balance strategy with operations, making sound decisions amid complexity.
- Demonstrate visible, value-based leadership with resilience, integrity, and prudent judgement under pressure.
- Hold relevant tertiary qualifications in health, business, management, or related fields; postgraduate leadership qualifications are advantageous.
- Experience in working with Boards and familiarity with private hospitals, surgical services, credentialing, or healthcare accreditation is beneficial.
