Job description

Overview

The Corporate Communications Manager at Telecel Ghana is instrumental in shaping and protecting the company's brand image by crafting and executing strategic communication initiatives that support business objectives. This role oversees managing corporate brand risks and opportunities, ensures consistent messaging externally, and enhances Telecel’s reputation as a leading telecom provider in Ghana. The manager leads media relations, reputation management, and stakeholder engagement, acting as the primary liaison for all external communication activities. Collaboration with senior leadership, the Telecel Foundation, and external agencies is key to boosting visibility, thought leadership, and fostering positive public perception across various platforms and audiences.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as a strategic communications advisor to senior management and departmental units.
  • Create and execute integrated communication strategies aligned with organizational goals.
  • Oversee external agency partnerships, manage budgets, and cultivate media collaborations to effectively tell the brand story.
  • Develop speeches, Q&A documents, fact sheets, and interview guides for the CEO and senior management team.
  • Monitor press coverage, spearhead crisis communication efforts to counter negative public narratives.
  • Establish and nurture relationships with influential media representatives and sector stakeholders.
  • Work alongside internal teams to generate accurate and engaging content for digital platforms and press releases.
  • Lead campaigns that raise awareness about Telecel Foundation and sustainability programs.
  • Design and implement initiatives that strengthen Telecel’s reputation and position as an industry thought leader.
  • Prepare authoritative position papers on key industry topics ensuring consistent messaging.
  • Maximize public relations impact from corporate events, sponsorships, and partnerships.
  • Develop and lead a thorough stakeholder engagement framework.
  • Coordinate quarterly forums with media and stakeholders to reinforce collaboration and relationships.
  • Maintain an issue management system to proactively address stakeholder concerns.
  • Align all external communication efforts with Telecel’s corporate values and strategic priorities.

Required Qualifications and Skills

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, or a related discipline.
  • Proven track record in media relations, communication strategy, and crisis management.
  • Experienced in advising senior leaders on strategic communication matters.
  • Strong ability to identify, map, and engage with diverse stakeholder groups.
  • Competent in project management, budgeting, and delivering measurable results.
  • Exceptional written, verbal, and interpersonal communication abilities.
  • Advanced analytical and numerical skills for monitoring performance and preparing reports.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of Ghana’s socio-economic and environmental context.
  • Understanding of corporate social responsibility and sustainability tailored to the Ghanaian environment.
  • Capable of working autonomously while juggling multiple tasks and meeting deadlines under pressure.
  • Experience with digital storytelling, managing social media content, and multi-channel communication approaches.
  • Success in creating and implementing strategic external communication plans.
