Key Responsibilities

• Define and steer the technical strategy for your team’s domain aligned with Talabat’s overall architecture, making system-level decisions where required.
• Lead engineers responsible for end-to-end delivery, ensuring AI tools like Claude and Cursor are integrated into daily workflows as a standard.
• Drive discovery, planning, and execution processes to deliver value in small increments while maintaining high quality and speed simultaneously.
• Mentor and coach engineers to enhance their skills continuously, cultivating a team that significantly improves each quarter.
• Oversee all non-functional aspects of delivered solutions, including availability, scalability, latency, and monitoring, according to Talabat’s engineering standards.
• Proactively manage stakeholders and dependencies, producing clear and compelling communications that engage the right parties early on.

Candidate Profile

• More than 6 years of software engineering experience, including hands-on involvement with building production systems end-to-end.
• At least 2 years of active people management and technical leadership experience, preferably growing teams beyond a few engineers.
• A versatile generalist comfortable working across multiple technology stacks or capable of quickly adapting to new areas.
• An AI-native mindset where AI tools are an integral and habitual part of your and your team’s work, with clear examples of usage.
• Experience with distributed system designs such as microservices, event-driven or RESTful architectures, and cloud platforms, ideally AWS.
• Demonstrated continuous delivery expertise through trunk-based development, strong automated testing, and frequent incremental releases.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, capable of crafting narratives that mobilize stakeholders effectively rather than simply reporting status.
