Engineer - SOC

Job Overview

This role entails monitoring cybersecurity solutions, assessing alerts promptly to enable effective incident responses, and enhancing the efficacy of security detectors. The ideal candidate will have a solid technical foundation in cyber systems and a keen ambition to become a cybersecurity expert. They should be knowledgeable about various technologies and stay updated with emerging threats in the industry.

Key Responsibilities

• Monitor and analyze cybersecurity alerts and events to detect possible security threats and incidents.
• Evaluate alerts and update case management systems by logging triggered alarms and threats.
• Maintain comprehensive, precise, and current information for all cases.
• Communicate with clients regarding security incidents and necessary mitigation strategies and assist throughout incident management phases following SOC protocols.
• Follow up on notifications, data requests, and remediation efforts to ensure swift resolution.
• Escalate incidents to senior analysts when advanced analysis or guidance is necessary.
• Update cases and service requests based on latest insights, analyses, and stakeholder inputs.
• Coordinate with relevant teams to foster positive working relationships.
• Assist senior analysts in preparing post-incident reviews and generating reports, dashboards, and metrics to evaluate SOC performance.
• Identify and suggest improvements to processes and services to bolster SOC operations and customer value.

• Awareness of cybersecurity threats, vulnerabilities, exploits, and suitable mitigation approaches.

Educational Requirements

• A bachelor's degree or an equivalent qualification in Cybersecurity, Information Technology, Computer Science, or related disciplines is required.
• Possession of relevant industry certifications is advantageous.

Preferred Experience and Certifications

• Knowledge of and experience within the local regional context.
• Experience working with Managed Security Services Providers (MSSPs) or Managed Detection and Response (MDR) vendors.
• Experience in a continuous 24/7 operational environment.
• Familiarity and practical experience with multiple Security Information and Event Management (SIEM) and Endpoint Detection and Response (EDR) solutions.
• Industry-recognized certifications such as GSEC, CySA+, CSA, or equivalents are a plus.
