Job Purpose
The Post Mould Engineer manages the post-molding phase for wind turbine blades, encompassing trimming, sanding, and surface finishing to produce precise aerodynamic shapes and superior surface quality. This position is responsible for quality assurance, equipment operation, process enhancements, safety compliance, and resource management to maximize production effectiveness and ensure product excellence.
Primary Responsibilities
- Oversee all post-mold processing steps such as trimming, sanding, and finishing to meet required aerodynamic and surface quality standards using advanced techniques including robotic sanding and precision trimming.
- Manage blade coating applications, surface preparation, curing processes, and perform detailed inspections to detect and rectify surface imperfections.
- Conduct comprehensive quality testing employing ultrasonic and dye penetrant inspection methods to validate blade structural integrity, document findings and resolve quality issues collaboratively.
- Operate, maintain, calibrate, and troubleshoot processing equipment like sanding machines and coating systems to guarantee consistent performance.
- Ensure adherence to safety procedures, appropriate hazardous material handling, PPE usage, and compliance with regulatory norms and industry standards while supporting audit processes.
- Drive process improvements by adopting innovative post-mold technologies and materials to enhance efficiency and blade quality.
- Maintain meticulous documentation on processing activities, inspection outcomes, equipment status, and material consumption, preparing detailed reports highlighting concerns and corrective actions.
- Effectively allocate resources, monitoring material and tool usage to reduce waste and identify cost-saving opportunities.
- Deliver training and guidance to junior colleagues to foster skill development and boost team capabilities.

Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering (B.Tech/BE).
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in post-mold processing or finishing within composite manufacturing environments.
- Solid knowledge in surface quality management, application of coatings, and quality assurance protocols for wind turbine blades.
