Position Overview
The Energy Specialist will act as the Base Energy Manager (BEM) and serve as the main liaison for energy program matters at Al Udeid Air Base in Doha, Qatar, supporting the Air Force Contract Augmentation Program (AFCAP). The role demands comprehensive energy program facilitation and stakeholder communication.
Key Responsibilities
- Implement an energy awareness initiative aimed at minimizing both personal and technological energy usage through conservation and waste reduction, aligning with federally mandated energy and water resilience targets without compromising mission success or operational readiness.
- Advocate for renewable energy, cutting-edge technologies, and advanced engineering techniques to reduce reliance on utilities and enhance the adoption of high-efficiency products. Advise on utility management processes for production, treatment, distribution, collection, and transmission of energy.
- Provide detailed energy consumption and allocation data monthly to support the Energy Management Program using NexGen IT with zero discrepancies, track energy reductions through analysis of monthly utility bills and meter readings, and compare consumption against industry best practices.
- Collaborate with HVAC, Environmental Management Control System (EMCS), Facilities, Utilities, and Operations Engineering teams to develop and implement utility management strategies involving heating, cooling, electrical use, and water conservation to enhance system efficiency and sustainability.
- Evaluate project designs ensuring energy conservation measures are incorporated to maximize resource efficiency and sustainability.
- Execute additional responsibilities as assigned relevant to the energy management domain.
Required Qualifications and Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical or electrical engineering or related field, combined with a minimum of four years of experience in Energy Management.
- Current Certified Energy Manager (CEM) credential from the Association of Energy Engineers (AEE).
- Familiarity with planning principles, energy programs administration, and NexGen IT software (preferred).
- High school diploma or equivalent training or experience acceptable.
- Must be a United States National (USN) eligible for and able to obtain a Secret US Government Clearance (US citizenship required).
- Possess a valid state or international driver’s license and passport.
- Proficient English reading and writing skills.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, teamwork, problem-solving capabilities, and sound judgment.
- Experience working in overseas government contracting environments is advantageous.
Work Environment and Physical/Mental Demands
