Role Overview
As an Electronics Technician at Mövenpick Waad al Shamal, your primary duty is to ensure the dependability, functionality, and guest satisfaction through first-level maintenance, inspection, and repair of the hotel's electronic systems and equipment. This role supports daily hotel operations and handles routine maintenance requests using established procedures. You are also expected to assist operational needs promptly during peak times and emergencies.
Key Responsibilities
- Install, maintain, and troubleshoot electronic devices across guest rooms, public spaces, and back-of-house areas following defined standards and processes.
- Utilize hand tools and precision instruments correctly for maintenance and repair tasks.
- Ensure that all installed or repaired systems meet both visual and operational standards.
- Detect and report any irregularities, malfunctions, or safety hazards found during maintenance.
- Maintain a safe and organized work environment complying with hotel safety policies.
- Conduct diagnostic tests on systems including HVAC controls, lighting, security equipment, and guest room technology using appropriate tools.
- Record test outcomes and maintenance procedures as per hotel's documentation policies.
- Identify electronic faults using established diagnostic methods and tools.
- Perform repairs or replace faulty parts in hotel electronic systems and guest devices.
- Validate repaired systems for correct operation and guest safety before completion.
- Document all maintenance activities rigorously and escalate complex problems to senior technicians or external experts when necessary.
- Follow all hotel maintenance procedures, safety guidelines, and operational priorities to minimize guest inconvenience.
- Respond promptly to maintenance requests, provide support during busy periods and emergencies to sustain uninterrupted service delivery.
- Report repetitive issues, system breakdowns, or suggestions for equipment improvements.
Qualifications and Requirements
- NVQ Level 3 or 4 (or an equivalent qualification) in Electronics, Mechatronics, or Electrical Engineering from an accredited institution.
- At least 2 years of experience as an Electronics Technician within a luxury hotel or 5-star hospitality setting.
- In-depth practical knowledge of hotel electronic infrastructure including HVAC controls, lighting, security systems, and guest room electronics.
- Hands-on experience troubleshooting, diagnosing, and repairing various electronic components and systems.
- Proficient in using diagnostic tools like multimeters, oscilloscopes, and specialized hotel testing equipment.
- Strong analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving abilities, with capability to perform under pressure and during urgent situations.
- Excellent teamwork skills, independence, multitasking, and prioritizing to ensure guest satisfaction.
- Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills, maintaining professionalism and confidentiality in a high-end hotel environment.
- Preferably skilled in Microsoft Office applications, email, and hotel maintenance management software.
- Knowledgeable about hotel safety standards, regulatory compliance, and guest service protocols is a plus.
- Certifications in hospitality maintenance or hotel systems management are advantageous.
- Age preference between 22 and 40 years.
- Fluency in English and Arabic is preferred.
