About the Role

We are seeking a proactive and technically proficient Electrical Surveyor to join our team in Singapore. The ideal candidate will have a customer-oriented mindset, strong communication skills, sound judgment, and the ability to juggle competing priorities whilst upholding high ethical and professional standards. This role demands a commitment to continuous technical learning and supporting the development of peers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform survey activities and provide expert advice related to electrical systems, ensuring compliance with budget and contractual terms.
  • Deliver assigned tasks within agreed formats, quality standards, timelines, and budgets.
  • Engage with clients internally and externally to present findings and offer appropriate solutions.
  • Conduct all activities respecting internal protocols, industry standards, accreditation norms, and legal requirements.
  • Maintain ongoing professional growth and uphold discipline and awareness in the field.
  • Estimate project timelines and costs to assist with fee structure determination for external clients.
  • Mentor colleagues as needed, facilitating knowledge exchange and application.
  • Enhance service quality by communicating client feedback and assisting in process improvements.
  • Ensure necessary authorizations are acquired and current.
  • Manage routine administrative duties following established procedures.
  • Conduct classification and statutory surveys and technical reviews of marine electrical systems per LR Rules, statutory directives, and accepted surveying procedures within authorized scope.
  • Address complex or atypical electrical issues through collaboration with technical specialists, plan approval experts, and survey teams, escalating issues beyond authorization.
  • Support capability development and share insights regarding electrical survey techniques, findings, emerging technologies, and lessons learned within the local team.

Candidate Requirements

  • Possess a degree or equivalent from a recognized tertiary institution in engineering or physical sciences (minimum two-year program), or hold marine/nautical qualifications combined with relevant certified sea service experience.
  • Be a member of an appropriate professional institution.
  • Be working towards or have achieved chartered or incorporated engineer status.
  • Adhere to professional codes of conduct and organizational ethics.
  • Utilize both general and specialized engineering expertise to apply current and emerging technologies.
  • Practice appropriate theoretical and practical engineering methods for the design, development, manufacture, commissioning, and maintenance of engineering systems and services.
  • Possess capabilities in technical and commercial project or process management.
  • Exhibit proficiency in English commensurate with role requirements.
  • Hold an electrical engineering qualification or possess equivalent marine electrical experience, with thorough understanding of shipboard electrical systems.
  • Have working knowledge of relevant classification rules, statutory requirements, and standards concerning marine electrical systems, including SOLAS electrical safety and IEC marine electrical practices, with eagerness to expand authorization and skills.
