Position Summary

The Electrical Project Manager based in Charlotte, NC oversees the entire project lifecycle from inception to completion, ensuring operational excellence and fostering business growth. This role is pivotal in client acquisition, project estimation, planning, coordination, and maintaining strong client relationships for repeat business while managing financial aspects like billings and payments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead safety initiatives ensuring strict compliance with all safety regulations throughout all project activities.
  • Collaborate closely with field supervisors to efficiently plan and manage field personnel activities while acting as the main point of contact for suppliers, subcontractors, and vendors to maintain timelines and deliveries.
  • Manage project financials by monitoring labor costs, engaging with pre-construction teams during estimating, and maintaining positive cash flow aligned with company goals.
  • Take full ownership of projects, providing leadership and mentoring to junior team members, delivering precise estimates and change orders, and facilitating milestone meetings including kick-offs and peer reviews.
  • Maintain transparent reporting channels with operations and senior leadership, producing accurate data on costs and schedules, and ensure technical accuracy of all project documentation.
  • Champion quality standards and cultivate a collaborative, positive workplace culture while effectively implementing company directives.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline, Business Administration, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Preferred minimum of six years in construction trades, especially electrical work, with strong mechanical aptitude and a thorough understanding of installation codes and processes.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, blueprints, and specifications.
  • Proficient in project management, estimating, and accounting software, including MS Office.
  • Holding an NC State Unlimited or Masters License or equivalent out-of-state credentials is strongly preferred.

Performance Expectations and Metrics

  • Manage active contracts totaling $8 million, maintain $4 million work-in-progress, and complete $4 million annually with a target net profit of no less than $300,000 per fiscal year.
  • Achieve sales quotas, maintain accurate monthly financial forecasts, positive cash flow, and keep accounts receivable aging over 60 days below 10%.
  • Submit timely forecasting, expense, and project closeout reports as scheduled.
  • Ensure schedule accuracy using Procore software and drive safety targets including zero lost time and minimal OSHA violations.
  • Complete 16 hours of continuing education yearly, participate actively in industry organizations, and obtain at least four customer testimonials annually to confirm outstanding service.
