About the Role
The Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art in Kansas City, Missouri, is inviting applications for the position of Educator, Adult Programs. This dynamic role focuses on developing and delivering enriching adult education experiences that connect community members with art and culture. By fostering curiosity, creativity, and dialogue, this role supports the Museum’s commitment to making art accessible to everyone.
Key Responsibilities
- Create, manage, and assess diverse adult learning programs and public initiatives.
- Establish and nurture partnerships with artists, educators, community organizations, and cultural stakeholders.
- Collaborate closely with internal teams to ensure effective program planning, promotion, and execution.
- Oversee logistical elements including contracts, scheduling, and budget adherence.
- Use participant feedback and performance metrics to evaluate program effectiveness.
- Keep abreast of new trends and methodologies in adult education and community engagement.
- Represent the Museum at external community events, strengthening its ties and outreach.
Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate demonstrates a strong dedication to lifelong learning and values the role of museums in fostering community connections.
- Possesses a Bachelor’s degree related to Museum Studies, Education, Art History, Arts Administration, Visual Art, or a similar field.
- Has at least two years of advancing experience coordinating or implementing educational or community programs, especially within cultural or museum settings.
- Understands adult learning theories and community involvement best practices.
- Experienced in forming collaborative relationships with a variety of community partners.
- Exhibits strong organizational, communication, and project management skills.
- Effectively juggles multiple tasks with keen attention to detail.

Work Schedule and Location
This full-time exempt role generally operates Monday through Friday, with occasional evenings, weekends, and holidays to support Museum programming. Some local travel may be required.
Compensation and Benefits
The salary range starts from $53,766 to $60,533 annually, based on qualifications and experience.
