Educational Evaluator

Position Overview

The role of Educational Evaluator involves active participation as part of an interdisciplinary rehabilitation team. The professional will conduct educational assessments, provide consultation and design educational rehabilitation programs, facilitate access to community education services, and offer counseling support to patients and their families.

Key Responsibilities

• Examine patients' educational backgrounds, academic strengths and challenges, personal interests, and physical capacities to determine educational potential. Collaborate within the multidisciplinary team to develop treatment plans aligned with patient, family, and payer goals, recommending optimal educational placements.
• Prepare detailed written evaluations outlining learning strengths, deficiencies, and interdisciplinary management recommendations. Ensure comprehensive documentation and smooth transitions in client programs. Advise school settings about academic discharge matters as needed.
• Refer patients to Hospital Instruction programs when appropriate and engage in consultations with families regarding evaluation outcomes and educational strategies.
• Create clear reports summarizing assessment findings and personalized educational guidance for patient management.
• Serve as the communication bridge between the treatment team and local education agencies, participate in school meetings, clarify discharge plans, and support development of Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) or 504 Plans, securing necessary documentation and resources.
• Identify client discharge options and facilitate effective transitions to appropriate educational environments through training and strategic support.
• Provide educational training sessions for schools and community entities as a service contribution.
• Attend and actively engage in team meetings, including interdisciplinary rounds and committee discussions aimed at enhancing patient care and program development.
• Contribute to research efforts and participate in outpatient clinics by reviewing academic histories, consulting with teams, and tracking recommendation follow-through.

Qualifications

• Mandatory Maryland Teaching Certification in Special Education.
• Master's Degree in Special Education.
• A minimum of two years teaching experience combined with at least one year working clinically with children with developmental disabilities.

Compensation

The salary range for this position is $57,140.30 to $99,305.86 annually.
