About The Role
Balfour Beatty Rail is seeking a Driver/Operator/Maintainer for its Colchester Depot. This position involves operating specialist rail track maintenance plant machinery, specifically Tampers, on behalf of Network Rail Infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities
- Report directly to the TGS Operations Manager.
- Operate and maintain a variety of On Track Maintenance equipment, including Tampers.
- Perform routine maintenance and repairs on machinery in service.
Candidate Profile
- Experience in operating on-track plant machinery such as Tampers or trains, or a strong willingness to learn these skills.
- Capability to conduct minor maintenance and repairs is advantageous.
- Good understanding of railway health and safety standards relevant to train operations is preferred.
- Ability to contribute effectively as part of a dedicated team on major contracts.
- Flexibility to work shifts that may include nights, weekends, bank holidays, and last-minute schedule adjustments.
- Strong awareness of the importance of positive customer relations.
- Clear and concise verbal and written communication skills.
- Possession of a valid UK driving licence.
