About Action Against Hunger

Action Against Hunger USA functions as part of this international network, managing programs in eight countries including Zambia. It has a robust annual budget exceeding $100 million and employs approximately 1,800 permanent staff members.
Role Purpose
This role involves providing reliable transportation services for the Field office located in Mantapala, Luapula Province. Responsibilities include vehicle operation, ensuring mechanical maintenance, and managing vehicle insurance compliance.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate program vehicles as directed, ensuring the safety and timely transport of staff and visitors.
- Uphold traffic laws and safety protocols to protect passengers, cargo, and vehicles.
- Conduct long-distance trips with or without personnel when assigned, adhering to regulations.
- Maintain vehicle cleanliness and ensure all documentation such as insurance and road licenses are current.
- Perform routine inspections including checks on oil, fuel, brakes, lighting, wipers, coolant levels, and tire pressure; promptly report any defects or damages.
- Keep accurate maintenance logs and schedule timely servicing to prevent breakdowns.
- Document all work performed, including timely reporting of accidents, incidents, and unusual events.
- Respond appropriately to accidents per regulations and promptly report mechanical issues to supervisors.
- Assist in planning vehicle servicing and keep inventory of spare parts and repair tools.
- Carry out minor repairs such as tire changes and refueling.
- Ensure vehicles are used strictly for authorized official duties and report any unauthorized use.
- Deliver parcels, correspondence, and related items to offices and businesses as required.
- Perform any additional duties assigned by the supervisor.
Qualifications and Experience
- Advanced Driving Certificate and a Secondary School Certificate with a passing grade.
- Valid Class C driver’s license with a clean driving record.
- At least five years of experience in a comparable driving role; prior exposure to INGOs is advantageous.
- Basic proficiency in English communication.
