Digital Solutions Architect

Role Overview

The Digital Solutions Architect is responsible for leading the comprehensive architecture and governance of smart city digital solutions implemented on the platform. This position ensures that solution designs from various vendors comply with the platform’s reference architectures, are cloud-agnostic, meet security and compliance standards, and align with the platform's service catalog.

The architect translates desired business outcomes into actionable solution blueprints, guarantees integration with shared platform services such as identity, observability, data, and APIs, and oversees delivery through design validations, implementation monitoring, and preparation for operational readiness. The role also fosters scalable and reusable patterns to enable repeatable onboarding and deployment.

Required Experience and Education

• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Cybersecurity; a Master’s degree is highly advantageous.
• Over 10 years experience in solution or enterprise architecture focusing on large-scale digital platforms, preferably in smart city, government, telecommunications, or critical infrastructure sectors.
• Demonstrated experience designing and delivering cloud and hybrid solutions utilizing Kubernetes, APIs, identity management, and observability tools.
• Significant involvement in governance activities such as Design Authority, architecture boards, and standards or exception procedures.
• Experience collaborating with system integrators and vendors under RFP or contractual agreements, including managing delivery and acceptance criteria.
• Working knowledge of architecture frameworks like TOGAF/ADM or equivalents, and agile methodologies applied at scale.

Skills and Competencies

• Expertise in end-to-end solution architecture encompassing applications, data, integration, security, and operational aspects.
• Capability to manage multi-vendor environments and align them to defined standards efficiently without creating execution delays.
• Strong stakeholder management skills, facilitating clear communication among business units, engineering teams, security personnel, and operational groups.
• Ability to specify non-functional requirements including availability, performance, resilience, scalability, and observability.
• Methodical approach to documentation and decision-making, including architecture decision records (ADRs), reference architectures, design patterns, and roadmaps.

Tools and Technologies

• Architecture modeling tools such as ArchiMate, Sparx Enterprise Architect, Microsoft Visio, or Draw.io.
• API and integration technologies including OpenAPI, AsyncAPI, and API gateways like Apigee, Azure API Management, or Kong.
• Governance and delivery tools including Azure DevOps, Jira, Confluence, Git (including GitHub), and Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform or Bicep.
