Design Engineer

Job Overview

This role involves creating precise CAD geometry and detailed drawings to support diverse closure projects within the automotive sector. The engineer will oversee design and development tasks related to various vehicle components and mechanisms.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and design components including hoods, doors, tailgates, fenders, fuel fillers, and related mechanisms such as locks, glazing, wipers, washers, and window regulators.
• Maintain and update design data to ensure it meets the required maturity levels throughout the project lifecycle.
• Provide CAD expertise to advance designs according to program schedules and deliverables.
• Evaluate and manage clearances between interfacing parts.
• Assess and assure the manufacturing feasibility of all parts designed.
• Escalate unresolved design or project issues promptly to the Lead Engineer.
• Ensure that all project deliverables are achieved on time.
• Identify and communicate any risks associated with the program.

Required Knowledge and Skills

• Proven extensive experience using CATIA V5 and V6 for design.
• Broad design expertise, particularly with closure and mechanism systems in automotive applications.
• Track record of successful project delivery in the automotive industry.
• Familiarity with Team Centre Engineering (TCE) systems.
• In-depth engineering understanding of component/system design, function, performance, and manufacturing requirements.
• Strong communication skills, capable of effective interaction at all organizational levels.
• Proficiency with PC applications including Microsoft Project, PowerPoint, Excel, and Word.
