Role Overview

The Design Assurance Engineer will oversee the installation, validation, and ongoing maintenance of standardized test methods at our Galway facility. This position supports both the Research & Development and Production teams by facilitating product testing and characterization. Close collaboration with R&D is essential to develop and implement new test methods aligned with emerging projects.

Main Responsibilities

  • Maintain the test laboratory infrastructure and equipment.
  • Conduct product benchmark testing to compare results against design specifications.
  • Investigate failures, including internal issues and Field Evaluation Reports.
  • Introduce and maintain new test methodologies as necessary.
  • Perform validation testing related to process modifications.
  • Manage projects effectively within the scope of responsibilities.
  • Facilitate the transfer of new test techniques and equipment across teams.

Knowledge and Skills

  • Familiarity with manufacturing operations, encompassing procurement, inventory management, quality assurance, production scheduling, and inspection processes.
  • Strong understanding of engineering principles, methodologies, and time measurement techniques.
  • Capability to apply engineering approaches in defining, designing, researching, developing, maintaining, and controlling costs associated with processes and equipment.

Education and Experience

  • A degree in Engineering or Science.
  • Between one to three years of relevant industry experience.

Physical and Mental Requirements

  • Ability to handle and work accurately with parts and equipment requiring tight tolerances.
  • Organizational skills to manage competing priorities effectively in a demanding work environment.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and the capability to work independently as a self-starter.

Work Conditions and Reporting

  • Primarily day-shift work with the possibility of shift changes based on project demands.
  • Reports directly to the Regulatory Affairs and Design Assurance Manager Overseas.
